Organization meeting set Tuesday for adults interested in learning
November 15, 2002 -- By MSU News Service
Sally Maison, a psychologist who had recently moved to Bozeman from Minneapolis, was looking forward to living close to a university.
"I'm retired and I want to take classes," Maison said. "I want to keep my brain alive."
Maison asked the university if they would partner with her and others in the community who were interested in a different kind of continuing education. The result is "Wonderlust," a series of varied classes for adults. A Wonderlust wine and cheese reception, set from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Museum of the Rockies, will be an example of Maison's concept. Lisa Graumlich, MSU professor, and director of the Big Sky Institute, and world-class ecologist, will speak on "Globalization: Curse or Cure." An organizational meeting will follow.
The actual Wonderlust classes that will be announced Tuesday are expected to begin in January. Maison said the classes will be two-hours long, once a week for four to eight weeks at the university. A professor will lead discussions in the seminar-like classes. There will be no tests or papers in Wonderlust classes, but there will be reading and meaningful discussion among 15-20 adults interested in keeping their minds vital, Maison said.
All Wonderlust classes will be offered during the day. Wonderlust enrollment fees are $35 for an individual's dues and $50 for a family. There will also be class fees for the four or eight week classes.

Wonderlust is sponsored by the Museum of the Rockies, Big Sky Institute, The Burns Center for Distance Learning and Continuing Education and the MSU Alumni Association.
