Kim Obbink, director of Montana State University's Extended University, has been elected to the steering committee for WCET, the Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications.
Obbink was voted into the three-year position by WCET's membership in October.
As a member of the steering committee, Obbink will help guide the activities of WCET and help advance the power of technology to shape higher education.
WCET was founded in 1989 by WICHE, the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education, to integrate and grow distance learning and educational technologies at higher education institutions in the 15 Western states. WCET has since grown to include members from all states and many countries, representing 350 colleges, universities, non-profits and companies.
Extended University manages and develops distance learning and continuing education programs at MSU. It also houses the Burns Technology Center.
