Four-week course for managers begins Feb. 10 at MSU

A four-week professional development course beginning on Feb. 10 at Montana State University offers hands-on management and supervision skills to leaders of all experience levels. The course, offered by MSU Extended University, takes place on the MSU campus in Bozeman.
"Applied Leadership Level 1: Lead Great People" is held four consecutive Tuesdays -- Feb. 10, 17, 24 and March 3. Topics include employee motivation, coaching, leading teams, time management and communication. The course is hands-on and includes several self-assessments, personal strategic plans and time to create measureable goals related to individual work situations.
Paul Bentley is the instructor. He has 18 years of leadership experience in non-profit and private industry and government. As the global training manager for Micron CMS, he was responsible for leadership development, continuing education and all aspects of technical and corporate training in the U.S., Malaysia and Belgium. As the management development specialist and later the supervisor of instruction at Boise State University, Bentley developed and taught leadership courses for more than 4,000 business, government and non-profit leaders.
The course is $600 and includes all course materials and 28 hours of training. Students can also earn 2.8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through MSU Extended University. Enrollment is capped at 24 students.
