February 03, 2009
The 200th birthday of Charles Darwin will be celebrated at the Museum of the Rockies Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. Children and families can enjoy hands-on activities, exhibits and a slice of birthday cake. Activities include exploring family trees, bird beaks, observational journals and learning about the theory of evolution. There will also be an opportunity to extract DNA and make a DNA necklace with the MSU Thermal Biology Institute.

No registration is required and parents are encouraged to attend. The event is free for museum members or free with paid museum admission. The Museum of the Rockies is open during the winter and spring from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12:30-5 p.m. on Sundays. It is located at 600 W. Kagy Blvd.
