Institute for social norms practitioners to be held at MSU July 9-11

June 30, 2009 -- MSU News Service
An institute focusing on social norms will be held Thursday, July 9, through Saturday, July 11, on the Montana State University campus.

The seventh annual Montana Summer Institute for Social Norms Practitioners will focus on positive community norms and offer an interactive, skill-building experience, according to event organizers. This three-day institute is geared for practitioners at any level. The institute is led by Jeff Linkenbach, a faculty member in the Department of Health & Human Development at MSU and director of the Montana Social Norms Project. It will focus on building key skills in all areas of Linkenbach's seven-step Montana Model for Social Norms.

An optional pre-institute session, set for July 8, will provide an overview of the social norms theory and the positive community norms model. A reception for all institute participants will be held on the evening of July 8. Lunch will be provided on all days the institute is in session.

The institute is hosted by MOST of Us, a nonprofit, social norms marketing and research firm affiliated with the Department of Health and Human Development at MSU.

This year's institute is full. To put your name on a waiting list or for more information, contact Kelly Jutila at kellyj@montana.edu. More information is available at http://mostofus.org/institute.php.
