Big Sky Institute to co-host slate of climate change lectures in October and November

MSU's Big Sky Institute and the National Parks Conservation Association will host national and regional climate experts to provide Bozeman's first comprehensive look at what climate change will mean for Montana in October and November. "Montana's Changing Climate and You" will feature experts on wildlife, economics, conservation policy and climate change.
The series includes the following lectures:
Thursday, Oct. 15 - "Fishing and Hunting in a Warmer Montana." T.O. Smith, bureau chief with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, will discuss how climate change is impacting Montana's outdoor heritage, and share the agency's approach to dealing with these changes.
Thursday, Oct. 29 - "What Will Climate Change Cost Montanans?" Nationally renowned economist Ernie Niemi will discuss what climate change could cost Montana if it goes unaddressed.
Thursday, Nov. 5 - "Protecting Wildlife in a Changing Climate." Molly Cross, an ecologist with the Wildlife Conservation Society, will discuss fish and wildlife conservation in Montana and present strategies for increasing the chances for conservation success as our climate changes.
Thursday, Nov. 19 - "Yellowstone National Park in a Changing Climate." National Geographic author and naturalist Gary Ferguson will use images and stories to explore the climactic changes that are altering the world's first national park.
The presentations will be held at the Bozeman Public Library at 7 p.m., and are free and open to the public.
