Monday evening leadership course begins Oct. 26 at MSU

A four-week professional development course beginning on Oct. 26 offers hands-on management and supervision skills to current and up-and-coming leaders of all experience levels. The course is offered by Montana State University's Extended University and takes place in 102 Culbertson Hall on the MSU campus in Bozeman.
"Maximizing the Leader Within" will be held from 6:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. four consecutive Mondays: Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, 9 and 16. The course addresses many of the day-to-day challenges that leaders face, including managing time, coping with stress, and breakdowns in interpersonal communication that tap their energy, creativity and overall leadership effectiveness. The course is hands-on and includes several self-assessments, personal strategic plans and time to create measureable goals related to individual work situations.
The class is taught by MSU instructor Paul Bentley, who has 20 years of leadership experience in private industry, government and non-profit organizations. As the global training manager for Micron CMS, he was responsible for leadership development, continuing education and all aspects of technical and corporate training in the U.S., Malaysia and Belgium. As the management development specialist and later the supervisor of instruction at Boise State University, Bentley developed and taught leadership courses for more than 4,000 business, government and non-profit leaders.
The course is $149 and includes all course materials and 12 hours of training. Students can also earn 1.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through MSU Extended University. Enrollment is capped at 24 students.
