The Montana State University Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert of music from the movies at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31 in Reynolds Recital Hall as a "foodraiser" for the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.
"This performance will certainly be a fantastic piece of ear candy for all ages," said Shuichi Komiyama, who is in his fourth year as director of the MSU Symphony. "This is one of the most fun events we have programmed."
The orchestra will perform "The Star Wars Suite," and "Indiana Jones, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," from film composer John Williams. This concert will also feature local pianist Ken Christensen performing "Rhapsody in Blue," by George Gershwin, as featured in the movie, "Fantasia 2000." Stephanie Jones, an MSU student who is senior assistant conductor, will also appear on the podium.
Tickets to the concerts are $10. Concertgoers are also asked to bring canned goods and non-perishable items to the concert to benefit the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.
Tickets can be purchased at the door on the evenings of the event, or pre-ordered from the music office in Howard Hall, which is across the street from the MSU Duck Pond.
