Community, campus events planned in response to neo-Nazi activities

In response to neo-Nazi activities on campus and in the community, a group of concerned citizens and organizations have joined forces to organize a "Hate-Free Bozone" march and rally Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. The march will assemble at the corner of 8th and Cleveland (MSU campus) and will proceed down 8th to Main, ending at Willson School for a rally. Rally speakers include Travis McAdam (Montana Human Rights Network), Rabbi Ed Stafman (Temple Beth Shalom), Ivie English (MSU student), Mayor Kaaren Jacobson, and Rev. Tim Spring (campus ministry).
In addition, the following activities are planned:
Peacekeeping training: A peacekeeper training with Rev. Lois Van Leer will be held on Sat., Oct . 31, at the Bozeman Public Library from 9-11 a.m. (small conference room). Peacekeepers will help keep marchers positive and ensure a peaceful march.
Sign-making: A sign-making party will be held in room 235 in the SUB from 12-4 p.m., Sat., Oct 31.
Diversity declaration: MSU students have prepared a diversity declaration to be signed by anyone who embraces diversity on campus and in the Bozeman community, which will be published Nov. 2 in the Exponent.
Creativity Movement lecture: MSU's Philosophy Society will hold a lecture on Nov. 4 on the Creativity Movement's activities in Bozeman and at MSU. This lecture will be held at the Procrastinator Theater from 3:10 - 4:30 p.m.
