Saturday fun at Ag Appreciation Weekend

11/14/00 BOZEMAN - The good times kept rolling on Saturday, Nov. 4, the second day of MSU Ag Appreciation Weekend.  (See also photos from Friday or the Petting Zoo and Insect Expo.)

Saturday saw honorees and contest winners, dancing and donating to student funding through the Silent Auction and other events.

Counting only money on hand, not what was also pledged, about $10,400 was generated for ag student activities by a raffle, silent auction and sponsor donations during the special weekend.

Honorees included several by the MSU College of Agriculture, 4-H, and FFA. The college honored Don and Bernadine Lake of Ronan, Ole Ueland of Silver Bow and Deer Lodge counties and Ralph Peck of Helena as outstanding contributors to Montana agriculture. At the tailgate before the football game, 4-H honored Linda Rice of Teton County as the outstanding 4-H alumna, and the FFA and 4-H honored Northern AgNet broadcaster Taylor Brown of Billings.

During halftime at the football game between MSU and Portland, the "winner" of the Kiss a Critter contest was announced. Since people vote for their candidate by donating to the ag student activities fund, it was not too surprising to find the Dean of Ag, Sharron Quisenberry winning for the second year in a row.

Following are some photographs from the day's events.

MSU College of Ag Dean Sharron Quisenberry, far right, waited at the  sidelines with Montana's outstanding agricultural leaders. The leaders were introduced at halftime, while Quisenberry was waiting to hear whether she or another candidate had won the Kiss-a-Critter contest that benefits MSU ag students.

Guess who won?

When the dancing started, Lynn Schledorn of the College of Agriculture found out that MSU's soon-to-be President Jeff Gamble is no stranger to Montana-style dancing.
