BOZEMAN -- The Montana Independent Bankers Association recently gave $20,000 to the Endowment Fund of the Montana 4-H Foundation.

MIBA is made up of 54 independently owned banks in communities across Montana.

Ken Walsh, president of the association and CEO of the Ruby Valley National Banks in Twin Bridges and Sheridan said the association chose to give to the 4-H Foundation "because the contribution would benefit a program that touches a lot of people. This gift will provide long-term benefits throughout the state in communities served by member banks." The Montana 4-H Foundation serves 27,000 youth and 4,200 volunteer leaders statewide.

Walsh added that 4-H'ers and their families are a major part of the communities served by the members of the Montana Independent Bankers Association.

Interest from the association's endowment gift will help the foundation provide scholarships to members, grants to community 4-H clubs, and training for members and leaders in projects, leadership and citizenship.

The Montana 4-H Foundation was established in 1969 to help 4-H youth develop life skills.
