Montana State University Community Relations

The Community Relations Office works to promote collaborative, ongoing partnerships between the Bozeman community, its residents, and the students, faculty and staff of Montana State University.

The office’s primary efforts include:

  • Foster a culture of involvement on campus and within the greater Bozeman community

  • Increase awareness of campus resources, activities and initiatives to the Bozeman community

  • Assist and support students in becoming integrated members of the Bozeman community

  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the Bozeman business community

 

The Scope:

Foster a culture of involvement on campus and within the greater Bozeman community

  • Produce Bozeman Resident Guide – a guide for MSU’s neighbors and friends

  • MSU Community Relations partners with the Downtown Bozeman Association to bring events such as Bobcat Fest, the Community Cat Walk and the Homecoming and Cat/Griz Pep Rallies to Montana State University fans and supporters

Increase awareness of Montana State University resources, activities and initiatives to the Bozeman community

  • Produce MSU’s weekly e-newsletter, Bobcat Bulletin , that reaches our extended community such as alumni and parents

  • Provide “Welcome Back Bobcats!” kits to the Bozeman business community

  • MSU Community Relations serves on area boards and committees to promote awareness of the economic impact of Montana State University on the City of Bozeman, including the MSU/Chamber Relations committee, the Downtown Bozeman Assocation board and the Greater Gallatin Unite Way board

Assist and support students in becoming integrated members of the Bozeman community

  • MSU/Bozeman Good Neighbor Committee
    • The committee includes 12 members from MSU, the City of Bozeman, Peak Property Management, the Downtown Bozeman Association, Associated Students of Montana State University (ASMSU), and First Security Bank.
    • The purpose of the committee is to:       
      • Promote desirable neighborhood behaviors

      • Increase knowledge of participation in campus by community, and vice versa

      • Find opportunities to connect students with residents in a positive way
