Association with the Center can take several forms.  The research of College of Nursing faculty that formed the foundation on which the Center application was prepared are referred to as Base Studies.  The Center provides support for two to three pilot studies each year.  These are referred to as Pilot Projects and are administered through the Pilot Core.  When Pilot Project Investigators complete their funded research, they become Center InvestigatorsCenter Affiliates are a additional type of association.

What is a Center Affiliate?

Center Affiliates are an important component of the CRCHC.  Center Affiliates are:

  1. investigators participating in research addressing issues related to chronic illness in rural dwellers;

  2. people involved with the training efforts of the Center; and

  3. collaborators involved with the dissemination of information through workshops, conferences, and media.

They contribute to the mission of the Center through their support of Center goals and participation in center activities.  Center Affiliates enjoy full access to Center resources.  Likewise, the Center Affiliate investigator can identify with a larger entity when submitting grant proposals.  Assistance with the preparation of grant applications and dissemination efforts, as well as consultation on conducting research, can be provided through CRCHC.  Collaboration among Center Affiliate investigators can strengthen individual research efforts, as well as promote the mission of the Center.  Center affiliation for institution/organizations can provide a research connection for individuals in their institution/organization and the opportunity to identify with research efforts across the state and region.  Center Affiliates will receive advance notice of guest speakers, and other educational opportunities.  Likewise, they will have the opportunity to consult with experts who come in for Center activities.  Financial contributions from any Center Affiliate are deeply appreciated, but not a requirement.  Center Affiliates are seen as true friends and collaborators with the CRCHC - a win-win situation for Center Affiliates and for the CRCHC.
