Overview:

Purpose:  The purpose of this pilot work was to take the Women to Women2 protocols and materials (hard-copy and Internet-based teaching units) and use it with a population of isolated rural men with CVD.  The pilot work helped to lay the foundation for an intervention study to be carried out following the pilot project that will add a new dimension to the existing Women to Women2 study.

Aims:  The specific aims of the study were to: (a) review, evaluate, and modify all hard-copy materials and protocols from the Women to Women2 project and (b) review, evaluate and modify four Internet-based health-teaching units and develop one new health-teaching unit on men's health for use with a cohort of isolated rural men with CVD

Methods:  An advisory group of three men with CVD evaluated all materials for clarity, helpfulness, and ease of use.  The team is now seeking funding for an intervention study with isolated rural men with CVD using the modified protocols.
