Table of Contents
The goal of this project is to enhance the understanding of health needs and risks of farm/ranch women. There is a paucity of studies which have been directed at farm/ranch women's health. The aims are to: a) assess the health promotion, risk behaviors, and psychosocial health of rural farm/ranch women and b) compare the health promotion, risk behaviors, and psychosocial health of women who have a chronic health condition with women who do not have a chronic illness. Two-hundred rural Montana farm/ranch women; 100 with chronic health problems and 100 without, will be surveyed using a mail questionnaire. Dillman's principals and protocols will be followed to assure high quality data. For the first aim descriptive data will be summarized using measures of central tendency and variability. These data will provide valuable insight into the health status of farm ranch women in Montana and my be explored using bivariate analysis or multivariate analyses such as canonical correlation, regression, or path analysis. For the second aim continuous summary measures for health promotion. Risk behaviors. And psychosocial health status will be produced and differences between means for women with and without chronic health conditions will be tested using independent sample t-test.
