Project Hope-Project Hope is the largest nongovernmental international health organization in the United States, with public-health and medical relief volunteer opportunities, primarily short term, in 34 countries.
Remote Area Medical (RAM) Volunteer Corps provides free health, dental, and eye care, veterinary services, and technical and educational assistance to people in remote areas of the United States and the world. Volunteers participate in expeditions (at their own expense) in some of the world's most exciting places.

Doctors Without Borders-MSF requires a six-month minimum commitment for a first mission (except for surgeons and anesthesiologists) and pays travel expenses and a stipend. The organization is working on securing loan forgiveness for volunteers who have heavy medical-school debt.
Interplast-This organization sends volunteer medical teams on short trips to provide free reconstructive plastic surgery for needy children and adults. Their needs for personnel include plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians.
