For students to access Turnitin, instructors must enable Turnitin and elect to make Turnitin Similarity Reports and/or GradeMark accessible to students.

Certain conditions must apply for student access to the Turnitin Feedback Studio site to occur. If granted access, to get to the Turnitin Feedback Studio site, students must be in the Assignments area of a course, and must have submitted an assignment.  After this occurs, students may then select the numeral in the "Submissions" column associated with a Turnitin enabled folder.*

Dependent on what the instructor has selected when enabling Turnitin for an assignments folder, students will see different looks:

  1. During folder set-up, if the "Allow learners to see Turnitin similarity scores..." IS NOT selected and GradeMark IS NOT utilized, students will NOT see any icons in the submissions/evaluation area of a Turnitin enabled assignments folder.

  2. During folder set-up, if the "Allow learners to see Turnitin similarity scores..." IS selected, and GradeMark IS NOT utilized, students will see the "Turnitin Similarity" icon alone in the User Submissions area. Selecting the icon will bring the student into the Turnitin Feedback Studio site.

  3. During folder set-up, if the "Allow learners to see Turnitin similarity scores..." IS NOT selected but GradeMark IS being utilized students will see a Turnitin GradeMark link for selection after the instructor has used GradeMark and published feedback to the assignment folder.

D2L Tii screenshot - because the "Allow learners to see Turnitin similarity scores..." is not selected, students see only a Turnitin GradeMark link for selection

  4. During folder set-up, if the "Allow learners to see Turnitin similarity scores..." IS selected, and GradeMark IS being used, two icons can potentially display to the student.

Selection of either icon brings the student into the Turnitin Feedback Studio site.

Note: If an instructor is using GradeMark and has published feedback to an Assignments folder, a student can also select to View feedback from the Feedback column which in turn will reveal any available Turnitin Similarity and/or GradeMark icons to facilitate access to the Turnitin Feedback Studio site - as below.

When in Feedback Studio, students select icons via layers on the right to view results.
