Current Research

The overarching objective of my research is to understand how river complexity and human alteration influence the supply of food resources (macroinvertebrates) to the federally endangered Pallid Sturgeon in two iconic large rivers in Montana: (1) the highly regulated Missouri River and (2) the predominantly free-flowing Yellowstone River. To do this, I plan to combine novel techniques that quantify river-bed habitats over large scales, spatially explicit macroinvertebrate community structure and production estimates, and estimates of the spatial extent of Pallid Sturgeon foraging.
