Secondary Education Entrance Requirements

  1. An "Application to the Teacher Education Program" (formerly known as TEPP) updated to indicate grades for all completed courses in student's major curriculum (forms available on MSU web site under Field Placement and Certification: http://www.montana.edu/wwwed/fpcert/tepp.html). PLEASE ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS TO THIS APPLICATION!
  2. A 2.50 cumulative GPA. (Includes transfer cumulative GPA if any transfer credit/grade is used on the "Application to Teacehr Education" form for an Educational course or a course in the content areaa of the students' major.)
  3. A 2.50 GPA in Communications (English core and Verbal core) and Math core with no grade lower than a "C" (no "C-" grades allowed; 3 "C" grades do not equal 2.5 GPA).
  4. A record free of "conviction of, entry of a guilty verdict, a plea of guilty, or a plea of no contest to a criminal offense involving moral turpitude in this state of any other state or country." (Montana Annotated Code, Section 20-2-110). This is a record check of State of Montana driving and criminal record.
  5. Fill out a "Request for File Review" form located on the bulletin board outside of the Advising Center (132 Reid).
  6. All of the above requirements are due one semester prior to enrolling in methods course, either March 1st or October 1st.
