Placement Checklist
(for Teacher Candidate Student)

A. BEFORE you leave campus, do the following:
- Read Elementary advice or Secondary advice.
- Contact your principal and cooperating teacher and supervisor within the first week of receiving your placement (contact information is on the Teacher Candidate Placement Information sheet that will be emailed to you).
- If applicable, make sure your Service Scholarship is in order by contacting the Office of Community Involvement.
- If you do not have a nametag from your practicum, purchase at the Cat Card Office, 107 SUB.
- Download and read Handbook (pdf)
- When you know your student teaching address, fax a copy to (406) 994-1950 or email it to fieldplacement@montana.edu.
- You must take a TB Test prior to student teaching. Your TB test results are to be delivered by you to the school district as they will ask for them before they will let you in the school.
- Take the Praxis II Test!
- OPTIONAL: Set up Credential File.
B. AFTER meeting with Cooperating Teacher:
- Complete a student teaching schedule and submit:
- Give 1 copy to University supervisor.
C. DURING Student Teaching:
- Read and complete the Teacher Work Sample
- If you are an Elementary Education major, look over the Content Knowledge Assessment form(pdf) or (Word doc) your cooperating teacher will use to make a content area assessment.
D. AFTER Student Teaching:
- Information regarding the Professional Issues classes will be sent to your MSU email account by the instructor. Information may also be made available via the course D2L shell.
- Read the Montana Licensure information to find out what you will need to do to apply for licensure.
- If you are interested in licensure information for other states, read State Offices of Certification.
