FEES
University Supervisor and Cooperating Teacher fees
If you plan on student teaching out-of-state you will most likely pay more then the $250.00 paid to a University Supervisor in the state of Montana.  The Student Teacher is responsible for payment of the amount over and above the $250.00 of which $125.00 is included on the tuition bill paid by the student teacher plus $125.00 paid by the Education Department.

The Field Placement Office will bill the Student Teacher for the amount above $250.00 that the University Supervisor charges for his or her services.  After receiving the bill, the Student Teacher will send a check or money order, made out to MSU-Bozeman, to:

Field Placement & Certification
PO Box 172880, 247 Reid Hall
Montana State University-Bozeman
Bozeman, MT  59717-2880

A check will be mailed to the University Supervisor as soon as the Field Placement Office receives a final grade for the Student Teacher.

In some states, Cooperating Teachers are paid more than the $250.00 paid to Montana Cooperating Teachers.  Once again the Student Teacher is responsible for the amount over and above the $250.00 which is paid by the Education Department.

The Field Placement Office will bill the Student Teacher for the amount above $250.00 that the Cooperating Teacher charges for his or her services.  After receiving the bill, the Student Teacher will send a check or money order, made out to MSU-Bozeman, to:

Field Placement & Certification
PO Box 172880, 247 Reid Hall
Montana State University-Bozeman
Bozeman, MT  59717-2880

A check will be mailed to the Cooperating Teacher as soon as the Field Placement Office receives a final grade for the Student Teacher.

If you plan on student teaching 50 miles outside the Bozeman area, you will be charged $150.00 on your schedule/bill ($125.00 for your University Supervisor‘s fee plus $25.00 administrative costs – see below)*.
However, the following fee waivers will be made:

  1. Health fee**
**This fee is not your insurance fee!  You will still need to pay your insurance fee unless you had it waived because you have medical insurance through another source.
  2. Dental fee
  3. Activity fee
  4. Athletic fee
  5. Bus fee

These fees should not appear on your fee statement.

To check out just how much money will be waived, go to one of the following internet addresses and scroll down to * Schedule of Fees.

INTERNET ADDRESS FOR GRADUATE FEES

*You will actually be billed $150.00 on your fee schedule.  $125.00 goes towards your supervision fee and $25.00 goes towards administrative costs.  The business office charges our office for administering our account, much like a bank charges for administering checking accounts, savings accounts, etc.

FINGERPRINTING AND CRIMINAL CHECKS
Nearly all states require fingerprinting and criminal checks before you will be allowed into the schools.

Fingerprinting and criminal checks for other states are required in addition to the fingerprinting and criminal checks you did for Montana.
Some states will send you a fingerprint packet while other states will fingerprint when you arrive.

Please see the Spring/Fall/Summer Application for instructions for getting your fingerprints taken.
