Welcome to the Dietetics Program in the Department of Health and Human Development – the only dietetics program offered within the state of Montana . The Dietetics Program is one of two programs offered in the Food and Nutrition option; the other is Nutrition Science.

What's a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)?
Didactic Program in Dietetics is a term used by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) to describe the program approved under the Standards of Education as meeting academic requirements leading to at least a Bachelor's degree. CADE is the accreditation body of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). CADE has approved the Dietetic Program at Montana State University as a Didactic Program in Dietetics. Mission Statement
|
The mission of the Montana State University Dietetics Program is to prepare graduates to successfully enter a CADE-accredited supervised practice/dietetic internship program, graduate school or a variety of employment opportunities related to food and nutrition.

Program Goals
|
| Goal 1 |
To develop and offer an undergraduate dietetics curriculum that attracts students to the dietetics profession and stimulates continuity in the program which allows students to accomplish their goal.
Outcome: Persistence and completion rates for the dietetics program will meet or exceed available university data. Persistence is defined as the number of students that declare the Food and Nutrition option from one semester to the next, whereas completion rates are the number of students that graduate.

To prepare students to be accepted into a supervised practice program.
Outcome: The placement rate in supervised practice programs will exceed the national average over a five-year period.

| goal 3 |
To prepare students to meet the foundation, knowledge, skills, and competencies (FKSC) requirements for Didactic Programs in Dietetics as defined by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education.
Outcome1:
The pass rate for first time test-takers on the Registered Dietitian exam will exceed the national average over a five-year period.
Outcome 2: Graduates of the MSU Dietetics program will rate the quality of their education and how well prepared they were for a supervised practice or graduate school at least a 3 on a scale of 1-4 with 1 being not well prepared and 4 being excellent. |

Prepare students to become professionals and engage in life-long learning and/or advancement in dietetics through professional activities and development with the emphasis of serving the state of Montana.
Outcome:
Graduates will become nutrition professionals and be engaged in life-long learning as evidenced by a least one third of the RDs employed in the state of Montana are MSU dietetics alumni.
