Additional Scholarships Available to MSU Students
Most of these scholarships are available to individuals in the honors program at the university. Each one is specific, so please read and apply accordingly. These scholarships are not affiliated with the College of Education, Health and Human Development. If questions arise, please contact individuals associated with each scholarship.

Barry M. Goldwater Math and Science Scholarship
The Goldwater Scholarship is open to sophomores and juniors (students with one or two years remaining until graduation) who intend to pursue research careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, engineering, or computer science and who have demonstrated potential, focused research interests, and a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Goldwater Scholars are eligible to receive up to $7,500/year for tuition, fees, books and room and board. MSU nomination required.**

Harry S. Truman Scholarship
The Truman Scholarship is open to full-time junior-level students, i.e. a student who expects to receive a baccalaureate degree between December 2010 and August 2011. Candidates must have demonstrable leadership abilities and potential for influencing public policy, a record of public service, potential to perform well in a premier graduate or law school and intent to pursue a career in public service. Truman Scholars are eligible to receive up to $30,000 in funding to pursue advanced studies. Scholars also receive priority admission to premier graduate or professional schools, and internship opportunities with federal agencies. Approximately 65 are awarded annually. MSU nomination required.**

Morris K. Udall Scholarship
The Udall Scholarship is open to sophomores or juniors. Awards are offered to two groups of students: those who demonstrate a commitment to pursue a career in environmental public policy and/or outstanding Native American and Alaska Native students who intend to pursue a career related to health care or tribal public policy. The scholarship covers tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $5,000 for one year. MSU nomination required.**

Gates Cambridge Scholarships
The Gates Cambridge Scholarships are available to students to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge. Scholars may select any area of study offered at Cambridge. Approximately 90-100 scholarships are awarded worldwide each year. The scholarship covers tuition and fees, a generous living stipend and roundtrip airfare.
Deadlines: US citizens who wish to apply for entry in October 2010 must submit an application by October 15, 2009. Non-US citizens must apply by December 15, 2009.

Rhodes, Marshall and Mitchell Scholarships
Applications for these distinguished awards are due in early October of each year. Candidates are encouraged to contact Honors in the spring in order to work throughout the summer on the application. MSU nomination is required.
GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: SENIOR YEAR APPLICATION
Rhodes Scholarship
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and between eighteen and twenty-three years old on October 1 in the year of application. The scholarship pays all tuition and fees at Oxford University College for two years, plus living and travel stipends. 32 scholarships are awarded annually.
Marshall Scholarship – open to American undergraduate and graduate students; must be U.S. citizens and graduate of a four-year university in the U.S. by the start of the scholarship tenure. The scholarship includes tuition and expenses at a university in the United Kingdom for two years. 40-45 are awarded annually.
George J. Mitchell Scholarship – open to Americans for one year of post-graduate study at institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. There are no restrictions as to academic field of study. The award covers tuition, room, a substantial stipend for living expenses, plus travel expenses to and from Ireland and a stipend for European travel. 12 scholarships are awarded annually.
