Join EHHD and Troops to Teachers for a 'Year of Engaged Leadership' evening presentation

combsMontana State University's College of Education, Health and Human Development and Troops to Teachers proudly present "Military Leadership in Public Schools."

The keynote speaker is Mr. Eric Combs, a retired Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. During his 20 year career, Sergeant Combs served as Security Forces Superintendent and special tactics instructor.   He was the 1992 Non-commissioned Officer of the Year for USAF in Europe and served as a tactical evaluator and trainer with the British Special Air Service. 

Upon retiring, he instructed Air Force Junior ROTC and attended the University of Dayton with the Troops to Teachers to obtain his teaching license.  He taught Social Studies in a school within a school program at Fairborn High School called Team Delta.  This team was developed to help 9th grade at-risk students adapt to high school life and improve their academic skills.  Additionally he has taught courses on economics, government, ancient and modern history.    

Mr. Combs has been an active member of Ohio Council of Social Studies Teachers and Holocaust Educators of Dayton.  He has been honored four times in Who’s Who among American Teacher’s and is an active outdoor instructor for high ropes, climbing, rappelling and survival for several organizations. He was awarded the 2007 Smarter Kids Teaching Excellence Award and is the 2006 Ohio Teacher of the Year.  He is on the Teacher Leader National Council for Princeton and is a webinar presenter and speaker for Kappa Delta Pi.  Mr. Combs is also a Smithsonian Institute Education Ambassador.  In 2013 he was a finalist for the Ohio Assistant Principal of the Year.

He is adjunct professor at Wright State University College of Education and Antioch University Midwest Graduate School of Education.  He is also a National Director and Instructor for the Center for Teacher Effectiveness.   As an educational consultant, Eric trains educators on classroom management, lesson planning, dealing with at-risk students, differentiated instruction  and teacher leader programs throughout the United States.  He is also a motivational speaker and presenter. 

Mr. Combs is currently an Assistant Principal at Fairborn Primary School, Fairborn, Ohio.
