The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) provides and facilitates student engagement opportunities for MSU students through a variety of programs, events, services, and activities. We are THE HUB for students interested in connecting with their fellow Bobcats through student government, student organizations, programs and events, and engaging in service to the community.

Work Schedule:  Flexible, depending on academic schedule.  8-10 hours/week during academic year (excluding university holidays & breaks). The student in this position will also be required to work on the first Saturday of each month during the academic year.

Employment Start Date:  Earliest: August 19th, 2019; Latest: August 26th, 2019

Wage:  $10.00/hr

Eligibility: 

  • Must be a full-time enrolled MSU-Bozeman student fall 2017 and spring 2018 (at least 12 credits per semester)
  • Preference will be given to students with work study funding

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate one Service Saturday event per month (October-April), establishing 4-6 individual projects for each Saturday
  • Help coordinate Convocation Service Saturday (the kick-off Service Saturday event in September).
  • Develop new marketing strategies to encourage participation from the MSU community and general public
  • Communicate with local non-profit organizations to collect project proposals and develop service projects for each Service Saturday
  • Act as point person for host sites, project leaders, volunteers, and drivers
  • Work with student groups (i.e. student organizations, athletics, etc.) to increase awareness and participation in Service Saturdays
  • Recruit project leaders and van drivers for each event, holding leader trainings as necessary. Service Saturday Coordinators are allowed to lead a project, but it is not required.
  • Accurately track volunteer numbers, hours and impacts of service projects on the community and participants
  • Meet weekly with supervising staff in OSE
  • Hold regular office hours, averaging 8-10 hours/week
  • When time permits, assist with other community engagement events that arise throughout the year and other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

Must be:

  • prepared to commit to a set schedule in the OSE, sharing space, equipment and supplies with other staff;
  • willing to make a one-academic year commitment to the position working approximately 10-12 hours per week (excluding university holidays & breaks);
  • self-motivated and able to work independently, while also functioning as a team player;
  • able to maintain a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • comfortable communicating with the public via e-mail, phone and in-person.

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Past event planning experience
  • Record of community involvement experience
  • Ability to lead others in high pressure environment

Marketing Intern

2019-2020 Position Description

The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) provides and facilitates student engagement opportunities for MSU students through a variety of programs, events, services, and activities. We are THE HUB for students interested in connecting with their fellow Bobcats through student government, student organizations, programs and events, and engaging in service to the community.

The Office of Student Engagement's Marketing Intern will be part of the OSE Marketing Team which is comprised of a media productions director, public relations director, and 2 graphic designers. The Marketing Intern will assist in managing social media content, create bi-monthly e-newsletter, build social media plans, generate the Bobcat Buzz, participate in outreach activities, and attend OSE events to take photos and encourage student engagement. This position works under the supervision of the Student PR Director to accomplish OSE Marketing Team goals. Social media writing and photo experience preferred. Familiarity with event promotion and advertising preferred.

Work Schedule: Flexible, depending on academic schedule. 10 hours/week during academic year (excluding university holidays & breaks). 

Employment Start Date:  August 26th, 2019

Wage: $11/hr and internship credits

Eligibility:  

  • Must be a full-time enrolled MSU-Bozeman student fall 2019 and spring 2020 (at least 7 credits per semester) or pay activity fee. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Office of Student Engagement's Marketing Intern will seek social media content from student organizations, ASMSU Senators, OSE staff, and student program directors.
  • Design and write the bi-monthly HUB e-newsletter.
  • Assist in developing social media plans for OSE/ASMSU programs and events.
  • Supervise the weekly creation of the Bobcat Buzz.
  • Circulate OSE/ASMSU program and event graphics across campus.
  • Assist in evaluating ROI (return on investment) of paid social.
  • Print OSE/ASMSU posters for weekly poster distribution.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Expertise with social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • Photography, videography, and graphic design skills not required, but strongly preferred.

 

The successful candidate will have: 

  • The ability to be organized and complete tasks according to deadlines;
  • Social media content writing skills and photography skills;
  • Comfortable with outreach and public speaking;
  • Understand the value of student engagement;
  • Interest in promoting the MSU Office of Student Engagement;
  • Team player and positive attitude;
  • Prepared to commit to a set schedule during the academic year, sharing space, equipment and supplies with other student employees;
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also functioning as a team player;
  • Able to maintain a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • Comfortable communicating with the public via e-mail, phone and in-person;
  • Willing to work late nights and longer hours during OSE special events.
