Service Saturdays are local service projects held on the first Saturday of the month offering a great way for community members and students to create relationships while working to enhance Bozeman. They are coordinated and sponsored by MSU’s Office of Student Engagement and supported by MSU Parent Family Association. Projects will vary from month to month, so please check back for upcoming project details.


September 10th Projects

Trail Work

Volunteers will be partnering with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust to update and maintain trails, infrastructure, trees and the new dog park at the Gallatin Regional Park

Grounds Maintenance

Participants will be assisting with clean up at the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter grounds to prepare for colder weather.

Organization and Building Maintenance

Students will help to re-organize the Habitat For Humanity ReStore and also work on building maintenance projects.

Flying Signs Fundraiser

Volunteers will be standing on street corners with signs advertising The HRDC Warming Center's biggest fundraiser of the year. Volunteers will be collecting donations from passing drivers and pedestrians.

Painting and Cleaning

Volunteers will be sprucing up The Cancer Support Community office. Projects may include painting trim inside and outside, sweeping inside and outside, washing windows, raking around the garden, and cleaning up the inside of the building. 

Playground Upkeep

Volunteers are needed at Great Beginnings Montessori School to work on their playground and help with other projects around the school grounds.

Garden Harvest

Volunteers are needed to harvest vegetables to benefit the Gallatin Valley Food Bank at a location called God's Garden. The garden has provided over 5000 lbs of fresh produce to the food bank so far and there is more to come!


Volunteers will be completing a couple painting projects at the Children's Museum of Bozeman.

Meet:  Near Ask-Us Desk in Strand Union Building (SUB)
Time:  10am-12pm.  Registration begins at 9:30, plan to arrive around this time.
Transportation:   Will be provided if the service site is not within walking distance of MSU.  
What to bring/wear:

  • Please wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty
  • Wear close-toed shoes as some projects may be manual labor
  • Bring water/snacks or other items you may need

No registration is necessary, just come and bring your friends!

Note: If you are under 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian sign our Liability Waiver before participating. Please contact us.
