Branch receives Fulbright to teach in Indonesia
Kirk Branch, who has taught literacy studies to graduate students at three universities as well as to students on an Indian reservation and in an urban jail, has received a Fulbright Scholar Award to teach English for a year at Satya Wakana Christian University in Salatiga, in Java. English student selected as McNair Scholar
Rio Gonzalez, a sophomore from Bozeman, has received a McNair Scholarship as part of the McNair Scholars Program, a federally funded (Department of Education) TRIO program named in honor of Ronald E. McNair. McNair, a nationally recognized physicist and NASA mission specialist astronaut, perished aboard the Challenger space shuttle in January 1986. Read more...
Eckert receives 2010 President's Excellence in Teaching Award
Eckert, a professor who teaches students to one day also be English teachers, is a leader in English education and a master teacher. Her courses, which range from introductory to graduate level courses, employ both the traditional and the innovative, such as collaboration with Bozeman High School and the creation of blogs and wikis to engage young students. Lansverk to give multimedia presentation on William Blake
Marvin Lansverk, professor of English, will read selections from William Blake in the Atrium/Brewed Awakening area of Renne Library on Wednesday, March 24. Lansverk will also present "Tyger By the Tail: Experiencing William Blake's Visionary Poetry ," an interactive, multimedia presentation about poet and painter William Blake, at the Bozeman Public Library on the same day. English student, professor win Awards for Excellence
Senior Adam Benson and assistant professor Doug Downs received 2010 MSU Alumni Association/ Bozeman Chamber of Commerce Awards for Excellence. Qualified seniors must have a 3.5 grade point average, as well as demonstrated campus leadership and community service. In turn, the award-winning students each selected a mentor who was honored with them at the event. Read more...
