Frequently Asked Questions
| Who gives to Montana State University? |
| More than 10,000 alumni, friends and organizations respond each year with annual contributions. Donors are of all ages and represent every state in the nation and over 40 foreign countries. |
|
| Montana State University is a state supported school, why does it need private support? |
| MSU is merely state-assisted rather than state supported and increasing demands from other agencies are making it harder for state universities to receive their much needed share of tax dollars. State and federal appropriations constitute a portion of the university's income. The remainder comes from other sources including tuition and fees assessed to the students, and gifts from alumni, friends, corporations and foundations. |
|
| What are the major needs of MSU? |
| MSU needs your gift to make financial aid
available to well qualified students; attract
and retain top, qualified faculty; acquire
the very best in equipment and technology;
and put permanent endowment funds in place
for departments, colleges and special programs. |
|
| How can I find out more about the needs of a specific college? |
| You
can learn more about specific college needs
by contacting the development director of a specific college,
or by checking the "Areas to Direct Your Gift" found
in the Giving section of this web site. |
|
| Are there benefits to my giving? |
| Beyond
the personal satisfaction which comes from
supporting Montana State University, there
are other benefits of giving. Federal and
state governments recognize the valuable contributions
made to society by not-for-profit organizations
such as the MSU Foundation and the tax laws
are written to benefit those individuals who
financially support us. Your gift will also
be published in the Honor Roll of Donors. |
