The Foundation is very proud of its commitment to its fiduciary obligation to prudently invest and administer private gifts to support the university. Accountability, professionalism, and trustworthiness are the three touchstones by which gifts are managed.

When gifts are received, the Foundation:

• Accurately records, receipts (for tax purposes), and acknowledges each gift.
• Distributes outright gifts to the programs according to the donor's direction.
• Invests endowed gifts to realize long-term growth and to provide an enduring source of support for the benefiting program.

All gifts are managed and, when appropriate, are invested according to the Foundation policies and procedures. The Investment Committee of the Foundation's Board of Directors sets the general direction of these investments and oversees the management of the Foundation's endowment, ensuring compliance with all federal and state requirements and strict adherence to the Foundation's fiduciary obligation to donors and MSU.
