> First Year Initiative
Cat Crew is a retention program designed to help freshman students with the transition to college by encouraging them to get involved in clubs or organizations on campus and in the Gallatin Valley.
Cat Crew is made up of upperclass students who are involved in clubs or organizations. They are given names of freshmen interested in their organizations and then contact those freshman by postcard, phone call or e-mail to invite them to the club meetings and to tell them more about the club. Cat Crew members also serve as a walking information center during the first weeks of the semester, being available to be stopped by students and answer general campus-related questions for them. Cat Crew members serve as a friendly face to new freshmen. Cat Crew members also do some volunteer work during the year, helping with Catapalooza, Study Breaks, M Day and Midnight Mania.
Cat Crew members are able to design their own level of commitment. Most Cat Crew members put in 12 hours per school year. Since the Cat Crew program is based out of the Dean of Students office, it is a great resume builder as well as an opportunities to make valuable connections with campus staff and faculty.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Cat Crew, you can join at any time during the school year. Please see Ashley Dawson in the Dean of Students Office in SUB room 120. You can also call (994-7359) or e-mail (catcrew@montana.edu). If you are a freshman student interested in getting involved in clubs or organizations, please contact the Cat Crew Office and we would be happy to help you!
