Education:
Graduated from MSU - Bozeman; Physical Education/Recreation - 1982
Graduated from The University of Iowa; Master's of Science in Recreation Education-Administration - 1984

Experience:
Steve's first job out of graduate school was at Emory University in Atlanta as Assistant Facilities Coordinator. A year later was promoted to Recreation Coordinator/Instructor and ran the Recreation/Intramural programs for 9 years. Steve then took a job at Dartmouth College as coordinating Intramurals, Clubs, Fitness Center as well as teaching in the Physical Education program. After 23 years away from MSU, Steve came back to the same gym where he started his career as an Intramural Sports official in 1977.

Responsibilities with the Recreational Sports & Fitness Department: Maureen is the Director of Club Sports, Intramurals, and Lifeguards. She creates, schedules, and implements all sport leagues and special events for the Intramurals while overseeing 28 Club Sports. Maureen is also responsible for maintaining a high quality-lifeguard staff that helps keep the pool in top shape.

Education:
Master's in Sport Management -- Florida State University 2010
Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Minor in Recreation -- Bridgewater State University 2008

Experience:
Maureen has worked in the Recreation field for the last 11 years. At Bridgewater State University, she worked in the Campus Recreation department for 4 and a half years, and after graduation was hired as their Assistant Director of Campus Recreation. She left BSU to attend graduate school at Florida State University. While at FSU she was a graduate assistant for their Intramural Department. After completing her Master's degree, she moved to Montana and was the Program Director for the Gallatin Valley YMCA. At the YMCA, she ran sport programs and summer camp for the youth and was co-facilitator for an at-risk teen program. Maureen joined Montana State as the Club Sport Coordinator and also helped with Intramural Sports before moving into the Interim Director of Club Sports, Intramurals, and Facilities. She was hired in July as the Director of Club Sports, Intramurals, and Lifeguards and is excited to be a part of the Rec Sports and Fitness Department.

Responsibilities with the Recreational Sports & Fitness Department:
Responsible for operation of the front office and it’s customer services; supervise one full-time position and three-five student positions. Ultimately responsible for all Fitness Center memberships and lockers sold. In charge of all HR and Payroll transactions (hiring procedures and payroll); all financial transactions and reconciliation, Cat Card, Credit Card transactions and Payroll Deductions. Assist in Department’s Budget planning and execution. Lead in Recreational Sports & Fitness Marketing and Publicity for the Fitness Center and it’s Activities.

Manage all front office operations and associated customer service, including Fitness Center memberships, payroll deductions, scheduling appointments and locker rentals.  Train and supervise student workers and provide administrative support to all other RSF staff positions.  Responsible for on and off campus marketing of RSF programs, services, and special events, i.e. flyers, presentations, displays, promotions, publicity, etc.

Abbey has been working at the Rec. Sports & Fitness Center since January 2010. She started as a personal trainer, then created the Instructional Program unit and is now in her current role as Assistant Director - adding Director of Personal Fitness, ACT courses, and Climbing Wall. Abbey loves working for the University and being able to collaborate with other campus departments - offering services/programs to all. In her free time, Abbey is very passionate about the outdoors and has worked for many outdoor adventure camps; well adept in guiding and leadership. Abbey is very involved in the soccer community and is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Bozeman Blitzz Soccer Club.

I started out at MSU Recreational Sports and Fitness as a Certified Personal Trainer in August 2011, assisting patrons to meet their fitness goals. I then had to opportunity to become more involved with activity classes for credit, climbing wall, instructional programs and personal fitness services in my current role as Assistant Director of Personal Fitness Services July 2012. This position enables me to teach students about fitness, incorporating two things that I love, education and fitness. Working at MSU challenges me every day and encourage the next challenge to come my way!

Experience
Whitney was born and raised in Nebraska and grew up loving anything sports-related, especially soccer and softball. In order to stay active and to pursue goals similar to athletics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, fitness was the natural spin-off. She began training for half-marathons which led to involvement in other diverse fitness formats. Being a coach and a motivator, she worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor at UNL Campus Rec until she graduated. Whitney then discovered the world of NIRSA and collegiate recreation when she began a graduate assistantship at UNL teaching and administering recreational activity courses for credit. She has loved every day of her work in the collegiate recreation setting with her passions for wellness, student development, mentorship, motivation and leadership.
