Jim started teaching at MSU in 1980 as a pedagogist in what was then the Department of Health and Physical Education. After leaving for a faculty exchange program in Northern Arizona and teaching in an elementary school in Massachusetts, Jim returned to MSU and taught health courses from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s. He then went to work as a senior professional product representative for Merck and Company. Once again, Jim decided that MSU was where he belonged and returned in fall 2006 to teach health courses in the Department of Health and Human Development.
