Katie Bark is a licensed, registered dietitian and the Project Director for the Montana Team Nutrition program at Montana State University in the Department of Health and Human Development. She has been employed in this position since 1995. Ms. Bark received a Bachelor of Science in Clinical and Community Dietetics from the University of Florida in 1981.
Team Nutrition is the nutrition education and training component for School Nutrition Programs of the Montana Office of Public Instruction. She coordinates statewide training activities to support school districts and early childhood programs in creating healthy nutrition environments. A major focus of her work is directed to training school food service professionals in the preparation and service of healthy meals and snacks, recess before lunch scheduling, as well as food safety. Her position also allows her to support training and technical assistance opportunities in nutrition education and school wellness policy implementation. Ms. Bark and her colleagues are working on farm to school projects to help connect children to their food source and support local food procurement. Ms. Bark is the past chairperson for Eat Right Montana Coalition as well as the Montana Action for Healthy Kids Team. |
