National spectograph contest held at MSU. The competition called for students to design and build optical instruments to answer questions about the sun and other scientific topics. They were judged in four categories: best science, best build, best design and best presentation. MSU teams won two of these awards. Each member of the winning teams won a $3,000 scholarship (up to $12,000 per team) from NASA and the opportunity to watch a launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Mustafa Al Momin and Israt Jahan Disha of Bangladesh and Devinka Edirrisinghe of Sri Lanka made up one of MSU's four teams. Read more…

MSU graduate caps improbable journey from India to Bozeman. Jyoti Sharma, a recent graduate in industrial engineering tells of how a chance meeting her father's taxi propelled her from India to Montana State University. “I was a girl who loved school and was a good student, but who didn’t think she’d ever graduate high school. Now I’m working as an industrial engineer. It shows dreams can come true.”, said Sharma. This is a story about an incredible friendship. Read more…
