Detailed schedules will be given to each student when they arrive for orientation.

Orientation programming for new undergraduate and graduate students, as well as new students at the A.C.E. Language Institute, will continue throughout the week.

Mandatory Montana State University Orientation for degree seeking students: Monday and Tuesday, January 9th and 10th

First day of classes: Wednesday, January 11th.

1. Confirm your attendance

Montanta State University does not require a deposit, but please fill out the confirmation form as to whether you are attending Montana State University or not. We would greatly appreciate it.

2. Apply for housing

It is important that you apply for housing as soon as possible. If you are an undergraduate students, please apply on the Residence Life Office website. If you are graduate student, please apply on the Family & Graduate Housing website. Only freshmen are required to live in the dorms. If you are not a freshman and if you are interested in off-campus housing options, we suggest you arrive at least 2 weeks before orientation.

If you have reserved a room in the residence halls or wish to reserve one, you may report to the Residence Life Office in the Miller Complex on campus to get information on accommodations. This office is open from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

If you plan to live off-campus, you will need to stay in a local hotel until you find an apartment. You can find local accommodation by utilizing websites such as Kayak.com, Priceline.com, and Hotels.com, to name a few.

3. Request an airport pick-up

Once you have your flight itinerary, please fill out the Airport Pick-Up Request Form. We will arrange for a representative from our office to greet you at the airport. Please make sure to reserve a plane ticket all the way to Bozeman (BZN). This service is free.

NOTE: We can only guarantee airport pick-up to students who send their arrival information at least one week prior to arrival. If you have not sent your information in advance, or if your flight is delayed, you may need to call a taxi to transport you. The taxi can be called upon your arrival at the airport at 406-388-9999. 

4. Health Records

You WILL NOT be allowed to register for classes until all MSU immunization requirements are met and the Student Health Service checks and clears your records. Therefore, it is critical that you take care of meeting these requirements and return the Montana State University Health History Form as far in advance of orientation and registration as possible.

Required immunizations include two (2) MMRs (measles, mumps, rubella) and completion of Montana State University’s Tuberculosis Screening Form. Forms for reporting this information can be found online at http://www.montana.edu/health/immunization.html
