Program Overview
Situated in beautiful southwest England, the University of Exeter has more than 12,000 students of whom 8,500 are undergraduates. Exeter has a long history of welcoming international study abroad students into its faculties. Currently there are nearly 300 visiting students at the University and a total international student body reaching 1,500.
The university now has three main sites, two in Exeter and one at Tremough in Cornwall. The majority of students study on the Streatham campus which is built around a country estate overlooking Exeter. The campus is one of the most beautiful in the country with lakes, parkland, woodland and gardens with many rare species of plants and trees. It offers a safe and enjoyable environment for study. The Streatham Campus is compact with teaching buildings, the athletic facilities, library, shopping center, restaurants and bars all within walking distance of each other.
Academic Program
Comprehensive in nature, the University of Exeter offers a variety of academic opportunities for visiting students. Undergraduate students study in the following broad areas: humanities, social sciences, science and engineering, and education. Students can study in subjects such as business and economics, chemistry, classics and ancient history, engineering, math and law. The University of Exeter also has an excellent Arabic and Islamic studies and language program, with emphasis in Middle East politics, Arabic language and literature, and Islam in the modern world. Location
Exeter is situated in the southern corner of England, about 200 miles south west of London, but only 9 miles from the coastal town of Exmouth. If you get tired of the city, some of the most stunning countryside in Britain is right on your doorstep. The coastal areas enjoy long sandy beaches perfect for sailors, swimmers, water skiers, windsurfers, kite surfers, and sunbathers. The wild scenery of the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor provides an exciting challenge for hikers, climbers, horse riders, cyclists, and other sports enthusiasts. In addition the gentler landscapes of rolling hills, rivers, and attractive market towns and villages are perfect for exploring at a leisurely pace.
Exeter has a population of around 100,000 and is consistently rated in national surveys as one of the best places to live in the UK. The city center is only a 15-minute walk away from the university, so Exeter combines the virtues of a campus and a city-center university. The city is steeped in history; the best known building in Exeter is the Cathedral which was consecrated in 1133 and rebuilt in the late medieval period. Close by is the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery. From there, it is a short walk along a cobbled street, which has many interesting shops, to the Exeter Phoenix, a thriving center for the arts in Devon. The Guildhall in the High Street is the oldest civic building in the country; Moll's Coffee House and the Ship Inn were favorite haunts of Francis Drake and Walter Raleigh. It is easy to reach Bristol, London and the rest of the country through rail and motorway links from Exeter.
Cost and Included Benefits
Students receiving exchange placements at the University of Exeter will pay tuition at MSU in the same amount as if studying in Bozeman. Remember to plan for extra expenses such as internal travel and personal spending money as well as for unexpected changes in the exchange rate.
