Language of Instruction
Courses are taught in English.

Eligibility
Open to students who have completed two full academic years of university level work
at MSU with a 3.0 GPA by the time they begin studies at NUI.

Academic Credit
Credit will be awarded at MSU for all courses taken and passed at NUI. The student's academic adviser at MSU, in consultation with the Office of International Programs, will determine how these credits will apply to degree course requirements. However, successful study at NUI satisfies MSU's Multicultural/Global core curriculum requirement. Students are urged to work closely with the their advisers and the Office of International Programs prior to departure to plan a course of studies which will maintain steady progress toward their degree.

Location
Galway, with a population of over 50,000, is typical of Europe's university towns. Over fifteen percent of Galway's population is college students; the resulting interdependence of town and College has helped to build a compact, thriving city that caters to youth like few other places can. The city has avoided many of the problems of larger cities and has not been affected by the political unrest in Northern Ireland. Galway is located at the heart of one of the world's most scenic seacoasts and in the unique landscape of western Ireland that is full of lakes, bogs, and mountains. A particular feature of the cultural richness of Galway and its environs is the fact that, in addition to the city's strong cosmopolitan atmosphere, the older Gaelic culture of Ireland is especially strong and vibrant in the western capital.

Cost and Included Benefits
Business majors who receive exchange placements at NUI will pay tuition at MSU in the
same amount as if studying in Bozeman. Business students who are not awarded exchange placements at NUI and students with other majors will need to pay the "study abroad" fee to attend NUI. (Visit the International Opportunities Resource Center for more information about this fee.) Each student is responsible for his/her own room and board in Galway as well as trans-Atlantic travel expenses. Assistance in finding lodging will be provided. Remember to plan for extra expenses including travel and personal spending money as well as for unexpected changes in the exchange rate.

Financial Aid
Financial aid may be used for study abroad at NUI. Additional costs for study in Ireland
(e.g. travel to and from the study site) may be used in calculating student's financial aid package. Students are responsible for applying to the Office of Financial Aid.

Application
Applications are available in the Office of International Programs at 400 Culbertson Hall.

Deadline
Applications for all students are due in the Office of International Programs on March 1
to study at NUI the following fall. Non-business students may apply by October 1 to study at NUI the following spring. Please specify your major when requesting an application.
