I made it to Japan after over a day of traveling. I flew from Bozeman to Salt Lake City to LAX to Seoul Korea and finally to Kumamoto Japan. It all went well except that the airlines have lost one of my bags and as a result I don’t have most of my clothes. That has been the only hitch so far. It is hot and Humid here, it is not too bad though. The area of town that I am in is very nice, there are many older style houses:
Everything is very green and there are lots of trees everywhere. The people I have met so far are all super nice and willing to help out in whatever way they can. The International Office here at the university has a great staff that is very helpful and super friendly. Which is invaluable because I am having a hard time communicating very well in Japanese. I think that it will come but it will take some time. I am very happy that I was able to go shopping at a grocery store by myself, and buy a map from the campus bookstore. I was able to ask where items that I wanted were located and then to purchase them. So I can communicate some things. It is very rewarding to see that I can function by myself in a different culture.
Campus is much smaller than MSU, which I like. I particularly like that the Gymn has a number of large rooms setup up to practice martial arts namely: Kendo, Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, and a few more I can not remember. I am very excited to join some of the martial arts clubs and then enter into competitions here in Japan, it will be very exciting! Here is a few Picture from The Kumamoto Gakuen University campus:
