Program Overview
Founded in 1859, The Norweigan University of Life Sciences (UMB) is a leading center of education for natural sciences, technology, and social sciences in Norway. The university specializes in research in food science, environmental sciences, biology, land use and natural resource management. With over 76 nationalities and only 3000 students, UMB provides an international, small campus experience. The university is located next to a spectacular 150 acre arboretum.
Academic Program

Eligibility
Students who have completed one full academic year of university level work at MSU with a GPA of 3.0 by the time they begin studies at the University of Life Sciences are eligible.
Academic Credit
Credit will be awarded at MSU for all courses taken and passed at the University of Life Sciences. The student's academic advisor at MSU and the MSU Registrar, in consultation with the Office of International Programs, will determine how these credits will apply to degree course requirements. Students are urged to work closely with these offices prior to departure to plan a course of studies that will maintain steady progress toward their degree.

one of the Scandinavian countries in the far north of Europe. Norwegian is the official language, but most visiting students find it easy to communicate in English. It is a long, narrow and varied country with its natural beauty always close at hand. Along the entire coastline there are magnificent fjords carved out and left by the huge, heavy masses of ice, which slowly receded some 14,000 year ago. The further north you go the more impressive the scenery becomes.
Traveling to other European countries from Oslo is easy and affordable. Stockholm and Copenhagen are less than an hour away by plane, and London and Paris are both two hours away. The excellent public transportation system (trams, underground, buses, ferries, and trains) makes it easy to experience the city and its surrounding areas, including nearby islands for swimming in the summer and ski areas for winter activities. The forested hills provide additional opportunities for hiking, skiing, and biking.
Cost and Included Benefits
Students receiving exchange placements at UMB will pay tuition at MSU in the same amount as if studying in Bozeman. Each student is responsible for his/her room and board at the UMB, as well as trans-Atlantic travel expenses. Remember to plan for extra expenses such as internal travel and personal spending money as well as for unexpected changes in the exchange rate. Several scholarships are available for students planning to study abroad. Students receive an extensive orientation upon arriving to Oslo.

Financial Aid
Financial Aid may be used for study abroad at UMB. Additional costs for study at UMB (e.g. travel to and from the study site) may be used in calculating student's financial aid package. Students are responsible to apply to the Office of Financial Aid.

Applications are available in the Office of International Programs at 400 Culbertson Hall.
Deadline
Applications are due in the Office of International Programs on October 1 for the following spring semester and March 1 for the following fall semester and academic year.
