Flinders University is situated 5 miles from the center of Adelaide City, in the southern foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges.
The campus is one of Australia's most beautiful, commanding breathtaking views of Adelaide's city, suburbs and beaches. Modern buildings set in spacious grounds of natural bushland, a pine forest, formal gardens, a tree-fringed lake and sweeping grounds characterize it. The university combines the advantages of a safe, suburban location with the convenience of regular bus services to the city, beaches and hills. There is also excellent on-campus accommodation.

Adelaide is the capital of the State of South Australia. It is a cosmopolitan city of around one million people and is the chief commercial, cultural and administrative center of the State. It is also one of the most accessible and least expensive Australian cities in which to live, with the costs of housing and food falling well below those other major capital cities. The city features wide tree-lined boulevards, parklands that act as a buffer between the commercial center and its suburbs, and an abundance of beautiful gardens. Fringed by miles of white sandy beaches, Adelaide offers safe swimming, diving, sailing, fishing and other water sports. To the south are popular surfing and fishing beaches with offshore reefs that are great for diving and snorkeling.
Adelaide is often referred to as the cultural capital of Australia. It is renowned for its thriving arts scene and an international biennial arts festival, second only to the Edinburgh Festival in Britain. The city features one of Australia's most significant public art galleries, the Art Gallery of South Australia, and also is the home of many other major museums. Adelaide hosts many cultural and sporting events each year such as Test Series Cricket, World Women's Basketball, tennis events, cycling, canoeing, polo and swimming.
There is a wide range of restaurants, bistros, side-walk cafes and fast-food outlets throughout the city and suburbs representing every style of cuisine and reflecting a multicultural atmosphere.
Within a short drive of the University are Adelaide Hills, where you can visit beautiful gorges, waterfalls, wildlife parks and quaint old world townships. The Hills are a great place for hiking and cycling or just relaxing under a shady gum tree.
