Dear students,
We are excited that you are interested in applying to study abroad through MSU! As advisors, we are here to help you find the best program for you and facilitate the application and preparation process. In order to get to know you and help you sort through all of the 240 program options we offer, we request that you meet with us before you start the application process. Below is some information that will help you better understand the application process.
Gathering general information:
On our events page you can find a calendar with dates and times for info sessions. Info sessions are required of all new students inquiring about study abroad. They are designed for you to gather general info on where you can go, which spots are more or less competitive, what the eligibility requirements are for each site, how financing and financial aid works, and how your credits will transfer. Please find a date that works for you and then email Amy Johnson to let her know when you will be attending.
Doing advising:
After the info session you should spend some time looking over the programs we offer in more detail. Consider things such as courses available, location, environment, and cost of living. After gathering some of this initial information we like to do one on one advising with you to see what your priorities are for your experience, what your concerns are, and if you have any questions. Based on this information we will help you narrow down your choices of programs and start an application.
Getting an application:
If you have already attended an info session and met with Jayme about the program you will be applying for, but have not yet picked up an application, you can still get started by ordering your official transcript from the Registrar’s office. Please have them send it to the OIP office in Culbertson Hall
The application:

For MSU students doing a CCIS program here is a general checklist of what applications require:

Due dates:
Applications for direct exchange programs are due back to the OIP by October 1st for spring programs, and March 1st for summer and fall programs.
Applications for ISEP-Exchange programs are due back to the OIP by August 15th for spring programs and January 15th for fall programs. ISEP-Direct applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis, but the sooner the better.
Applications for all CCIS programs are due back to the OIP by the deadlines listed on www.ccisabroad.org Please make note of the fact that every CCIS program has different deadlines. It is your responsibility to know these particular dates. If you are an MSU student and you are doing a CCIS program that is sponsored by a university other than MSU please take into consideration that our office will need to have your materials early enough to mail them to the sponsoring school by the date that they list.
* Please bring us a complete application with all of the materials in one packet, except for the transcript which will come directly from the Registrar’s office.
* Once you have completed the steps on this page, please be aware of the rest of the process. You can find the next steps on the Study Abroad Preparations page.
