This program is a fun and flexible way for MSU students and international students to make friends & gain knowledge about other cultures.
What is Friends Beyond Borders?
The “FBB” program partners Montana State University students with international students to promote cross-cultural exchange at MSU and to help international students adjust to life in Bozeman. The FBB program is a fun way for the international students to make friends, and become comfortable at campus and within the American culture.
What Friends Beyond Borders is NOT!!
Friends Beyond Borders is NOT a dating service. FBB is NOT an academic program. FBB is NOT a transportation services, a home-stay, or a means of financial support. The FBB program is NOT a tool for religious recruitment, evangelism, or proselytizing.
Program Commitments
- You will get to meet your friend at an International Mixer (date to be announced).
- Must be enrolled in classes at MSU, and be willing to commit to FBB for one full semester.
- Must be able to meet regularly with your friend for whatever activities you decide.
- Get out and explore Bozeman
- Hiking, biking, fishing, skiing!
- Coffee, ice cream, shopping, movies!
- Sports, hobbies, crafts, etc.
- Being flexible makes the program more fun for you and your friend.

Meet new people and develop lasting friendships from around the world. Learn about new cultures. Improve your language skills.
How Are Students Paired?
International students and Montana State University students are paired based upon the expressed interests in distinct cultures and countries, language ability, hobbies and activities.
