NAFSA is a professional association that serves career professionals around the world working in the field of international education. Attending the national conference is an extraordinarily valuable experience, both in terms of the learning opportunities it provides attendees and as a venue for professional networking. Conference activities include information presentations, state, regional, and working-group meetings, training workshops, internationally-recognized speakers, a job registry, and an exposition hall full of product and service vendors.

LEAP participants and MSU staff in Montreal, Canada during 2006 NAFSA conference |
The annual NAFSA conference and Exposition will take place in St. Louis, Missouri from May 26 to 31.
As part of the LEAP program, participants and MSU staff attend the national NAFSA conference together. MSU staff will make hotel arrangements, register the LEAP participants for the conference, and attend meetings with them. They will also organize a LEAP reception. In attencance at this reception will be supervisors who have previously hosted LEAP practicum interns, and potential new hosts. Because representatives from the universities that will host LEAP interns will be in attendance, the gathering also serves as an opportunity for informal conversations that will help the participants decide which practicum site is best for them.
While at MSU, the LEAP participants will also be invited to attend Montana’s state NAFSA meeting. In the fall, they will also be encouraged to the attend Regional NAFSA conference with their practicum site colleagues.
