Congratulations on your selection as a participant in the Middle East Partnership Initiative's Undergraduate Institute on American Studies and Leadership at Montana State University (MSU). Many excellent candidates from throughout the Middle East and North Africa applied and were considered for this program. That you were selected speaks highly of your academic standing, your character, and your potential. We are excited to welcome you to MSU and the City of Bozeman.

For most of the program, you will be in residence at MSU's 1,700-acre main campus in Bozeman, Montana. Tracing its roots to 1893, MSU is a comprehensive, doctoral-level, research university and is one of the United States’ premier Land-Grant universities. It has seven colleges: Agriculture, Arts and Architecture, Business, Letters and Science, Education, Health and Human Development, Engineering, and Nursing. MSU offers baccalaureate degrees in 51 fields with many different options, master's degrees in 41 fields, and doctoral degrees in 18 fields. Last year, the University conducted more than $80 million in sponsored research. MSU has a student body of approximately 12,000 (10,700 undergraduate and 1,300 graduate and continuing education).

Bozeman is a safe, hospitable community of approximately 35,000 people in the northern Rocky Mountains. While small compared with many cities in the United States, Bozeman features all the amenities of a larger metropolis, including a major airport, excellent health care, and a burgeoning high-tech industry. It is also a prime base from which to explore the wide-open spaces of the American West, with its Native American history, pioneer traditions, and natural beauty—Yellowstone National Park, one of America’s most spectacular wilderness areas, is just an hour and a half by car away!

We will be in regular e-mail contact with you before, during, and after the Institute. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime. Also, please share this letter with your family and encourage them to follow the program via the information about it on the website.

The entire staff of the MSU MEPI institute looks very much forward to meeting you, working with you, and learning from you. We hope that our upcoming time together will prove to be just the beginning of a lasting freindship. On behalf of everyone you will encounter during your stay in Bozeman, safe travels. We look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely, Your MEPI Montana State University MEPI Institute staff
