Sample Program: Two-week Summer Language and Recreation Institute

Group at Lewis and Clark Caverns State ParkThis exciting learning and recreational institute provides participants with an opportunity to improve their conversational English skills and enjoy some of the American West’s finest outdoor recreational activities. The English language program is designed to improve listening and speaking skills. Outside of class, participants will have numerous opportunities to improve their English skills and their understanding of American culture. Institute participants will live with an American family for 11 days, interact intensively with program staff, and spend time with other students at MSU.

The institute will also include an exciting tour of Yellowstone National Park. One of the world’s most beautiful and varied natural and geological landscapes, Yellowstone offers visitors exceptional opportunities to see deer, bison, elk, wolves, eagles, and even bears.

In addition, per-student program costs for the institute are based on the number of participants.  Typically, a two-week program costs between US$2,000-$2,500 per person.

All of the following activities are included in the cost of the Summer Institute:

English Language Instruction

  • 9 half-day English classes from an experienced ESL instructor

Recreation Activities


  • All local transportation is provided


  • 3 nights in a deluxe Bozeman hotel
  • 11 nights in Bozeman with a homestay family

  • Some meals (Please note: breakfast and dinner are provided during the homestay; various other meals also provided)

  • Health and other travelers insurance (all participants will be required to hold and show proof of insurance)
  • Cost for escort from home country
  • Personal expenses
