Sample Program: Three-week Winter Language and Recreation Institute

Overview
Montana Hall in winterThis exciting learning and recreational institute provides participants with an opportunity to improve their conversational English skills and enjoy some of the American West’s finest winter activities. The English language program is designed to improve listening and speaking skills. Classes will focus on understanding and using colloquial English and slang, U.S. culture, and the American West. Outside of class, participants will also have numerous opportunities to improve their English skills and their understanding of life in America. Institute participants will live with an American family for 14 days, interact intensively with program staff, spend time with other students at MSU, and do a brief presentation about themselves to a group of middle school students.

Institute participants will also enjoy four full days of skiing at two world-class ski resorts near Bozeman—Bridger Bowl and Moonlight Basin. Additionally, the institute will include an exciting two-day trip into the heart Yellowstone National Park. One of the world’s most beautiful and varied natural and geological landscapes, Yellowstone offers visitors exceptional opportunities to see deer, bison, elk, wolves, eagles, and even bears. Program participants will travel from West Yellowstone into the “Old Faithful” geyser basin in a snow coach, a tracked equipped to travel over snow and ice. Many people have described such full day, guided winter tours as the “experience of a lifetime.”

Per-student program costs for the institute are based on the number of participants.  Typically, a three-week program will cost between US$2,500-$3,000 per person.
