Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students:

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).

Every day, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, Montana State University is subject to millions of automated attacks against our network and computers. These attempts target systems vital to the operation of the University and that contain data on our faculty, staff, and students. While the University has deployed technologies to mitigate these threats, the more aware you are of the threats, the more secure Montana State will be as a whole.

This month, the Information Technology Center and our Security Council will provide faculty, staff, and students with information and resources on the following topics:

Week 1: Phishing
Week 2: Online Safety
Week 3: Malware
Week 4: Desktop/Laptop Security

Watch for emails each week that will help you stay informed, aware, and secure as you use computers and online resources at work, at home, and on the go.

If you have follow-on questions about these topics or the information that is provided, please email itsecurity@montana.edu with "NCSAM" in the subject line. A member of our Information Security team will be in touch with you.

Thank you,

The Information Technology Center
