QuickTime 7 for Windows Security Risk
Removal is Recommended

Attn: Montana State University Student Windows Computer Owners,

Since Apple's recent discontinued support of QuickTime 7 for Windows (QT), exploits have been reported on Windows computers with QT installed (US-CERT Alert TA16-105A).   In order to reduce the security risks to your Windows computer we recommend removing QT as soon as you are able to do so.  The security threat will remain as long as QuickTime is installed.

Please note: These risks only affect Windows computers. They do not affect Macs.

Removing QT from your computer shouldn’t limit your ability to watch video as new versions of Windows since 2009 have included support for the key media formats, such as H.264 and AAC, that QuickTime 7 enabled and all current Windows web browsers support video without the need for browser plug-ins.
