New “Daylight” Visual Interface for Brightspace LE

On Tuesday, August 8, 2017, Brightspace's new visual interface called Daylight will be enabled. Brightspace LE, formerly known as D2L, is the online learning management system used by students and faculty at MSU. You will see an improved visual interface that has received very positive reviews from our faculty and students who have looked at Daylight. While there will be visual changes, the workflow and functionality that you are familiar with will remain relatively consistent.

What you can do before August 8

In our most recent faculty and student survey, improved mobile accessibility was identified as a priority for users. The Daylight interface supports this request and provides a layout that scales appropriately for smaller screens such as tablets and mobile devices. Utilizing Daylight will make the user experience more engaging, responsive, and adaptive independent of the device that you use to access D2L.

The current D2L interface will no longer be supported by Brightspace starting in 2018, so it seemed that it would be best to make this shift at the beginning of the academic year rather than requiring a change to the user experience mid-year.

Questions or Concerns?

We encourage you to check out the Daylight interface and contact us with any questions or concerns:
