About our department... In support of the Montana State University mission, the Information Technology Center (ITC) promotes, develops, delivers, and facilitates the use of information technology services and resources. The IT Center manages, operates, and supports Montana State University's multilevel, distributed computation and information systems, provisioning the central infrastructure and information systems for the four-campus enterprise. The IT Center delivers academic technology and user services for students, faculty, and staff on the Bozeman campus and provides technical leadership to distributed personnel throughout the campus. Duties and

About this position... This position is responsible for technical planning, design, construction, training, and support activities for technology-enabled classrooms and meeting rooms on the MSU-Bozeman campus. The person in this position manages audio/visual (A/V) equipment and software installed in technology-enabled classrooms and meeting rooms; provides technical support for faculty, students, and others in the daily use of classroom and meeting room A/V equipment and instructional software; plans and installs A/V instructional technology solutions in MSU classrooms, labs, and meeting rooms; conducts individual training and group workshops to orient faculty and staff to the use of technology installed in classrooms and meeting rooms.

1.   Experience/Education: A minimum of six months of education and/or experience in the installation and maintenance of A/V equipment or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
2.   Knowledge: Knowledge of A/V equipment and control systems; knowledge of best practices associated with installation, configuration and operation of A/V equipment; and knowledge of best practices associated with the operation of installed A/V equipment and software.
3.   Skills: Skilled at handling multiple tasks while working under pressure and deadlines; skilled at proactively seeking ways to improve the services and hardware provided in A/V equipped facilities; and skilled at self-organization and time management.
1.   Knowledge: Knowledge of the hardware and software installed in technology enhanced classrooms; and knowledge of effective training methods and material design.
2.   Skills: Skilled at project management tools and techniques; skilled at giving presentations; and skilled at writing clear and effective technical documents.

1.   In accordance with MSU policy, hiring will be conditional upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
2.   Must be able to use a computer monitor, keyboard and mouse for long periods of time.
3.   English language proficiency required.
4.   This position requires flexibility in the work schedule, including periodic after hours availability and support.
5.   Must transport computer equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
6.   Must climb ladders and carry equipment up a ladder up to 30 feet off the ground.
7.   Must bend, stoop, and maneuver in crawl spaces, ceilings, mechanical rooms, and other unfinished spaces.
